The Rebel Belle is Born!

The Rebel Belle is Born!

In launching my new business I thought it would be fun to share with “you-all” how The Rebel Belle was born. First my thanks to Suzanne Falter-Barns of “Get Known Now” for creating the concept of “The Rebel Belle” with me. From there it was on to finding an illustrator and designer… and she rocks!

I love my illustrator and designer, April Carter Grant. She is fabulous and has done a brilliant job of capturing the essence of me. When I first talked with April, I communicated to her that I was always rebelling against my southern roots, the ones where I had to fulfill roles that were proper and rule oriented. The ones where I felt I was told what I had to do, and had no freedom to choose otherwise. I described my upbringing and how I wanted the Rebel Belle to convey a sense of charm, boldness, fun, going against the rules and expressing a desire for freedom. Here is the original concept of the Rebel Belle.

I love it! It is so me!! Get me out of those clothes! Let me go barefoot or put flip flops or tennis shoes on my feet. (Notice the converse shoes. That’s the “all women’s finishing school” I attended… Converse College… go, April!)
