Middle Aged Woman

Step #7 of The Rebel Belle EGuide to Bold Self-Expression is: Let Freedom Ring!
A Rebel Belle is a playful women. She knows how to lighten up.

Folks, I make a point at least once a week to find something joyful, fun and playful to experience and share. I hope you enjoy “Middle Aged Woman” by Lisa Koch and Minnie Pauz….

Lisa Koch is described as the triangulated love child of Bette Midler, Lily Tomlin, and Karen Carpenter. An irreverent Seattle singer/comedian, Koch (“Coke”) is a deliciously twisted mix of comedy, theater, and demented songs.

This one is delightful. Let Freedom Ring!  ”Middle Aged Woman”

9 Words Women Use

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Folks, I had a fabulous laugh with this one. So did my boyfriend, son, brother, boss…..

1.) FINE: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

2.) FIVE MINUTES: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

3.) NOTHING: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in FINE.

4.) GO AHEAD: This is a dare, not permission. You’re being baited. Don’t do it.

5.) LOUD SIGH: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)

6.) THAT’S OKAY: This is one of the most dangerous statements a woman can make to a man. That’s okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

7.) THANKS: A woman is thanking you. Do not question, or faint; just say you’re welcome. I want to add in a clause here: This is true unless she says “Thanks a lot” - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say “you’re welcome” in this case, for that will bring on a “whatever”.

8.)WHATEVER: is a woman’s way of saying %$#&*^ YOU!

9.) DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT, I GOT IT: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking “What’s wrong?” For the woman’s response refer to # 3.

* Share this with the men you know, to warn them about arguments they can avoid if they remember the terminology.

* Share this with all the women you know to give them a good laugh, cause they know it’s true.

The Senior Dress Code

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

Many of us ‘Older Belle Folks’ (those over 50, WAY over 50, or hovering near 50) at times can be quite confused about how to present ourselves.

Unsure about the kind of image we’re projecting and whether or not we’re correct, we try with purest intent to conform to current fashions. Despite what you may have seen on the streets, the following combinations DO NOT go together and should be avoided at all costs:

1. A nose ring and bifocals

2. Spiked hair and bald spots

3. A pierced tongue and dentures

4. Miniskirts and support hose

5. Ankle bracelets and corn pads

6. Speedos and cellulite

7. A belly button ring and a gall bladder surgery scar

8. Unbuttoned disco shirts and a heart monitor

9. Midriff shirts and a midriff bulge

10. Bikinis and liver spots

11. Short shorts and varicose veins

12. Inline skates and a walker

And last, but not least…my personal favorite

13. Thongs and Depends

Happiness Project - Are You Happy?

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Alex Shalman of Practical Personal Development is conducting a “Happiness Project” over at his blog. Alex is asking people 5 questions about happiness, what it means to them, and how they deal with it. He’s opened this up to anyone who wants to participate.

A Rebel Belle Yell! and a very “happy” thank you to Stephen Hobson of Adversity University for sharing this project with me. I love “being” happy!

Here are Alex’s questions and my responses.

Who Are You Today?

Monday, February 25th, 2008

Folks, I’d like to share some fun and amazing responses I received  from a few fabulous women who answered the “Are You A Rebel Belle?” questionaire. After working with their FREE gift – The “Who Am I?” worksheets and meditation, these were their responses:

I am TENACIOUS!! We as women do not give ourselves enough credit and sometimes beat ourselves up for things that really do not matter. This is a struggle at times because there is a fine line between duty and determination. As a stay at home mom my personal struggle is the balance between fulfilling obligations and pursuing my dream. I tend to beat myself up (especially when in CREATIVE mode) for not being the most attentive wife and mother. I am currently in CREATIVE mode, and this morning instead of beating myself up, I let my daughter know how grateful I am for being able to work at home and not have to go to a rat race job. Yes, my laundry is piled mile high and the dishes are pouring out of my sink, but I am here in my home and I am doing what I LOVE!! I think the best gift I can give my daughter is to continue being TENACIOUS in the pursuit of my dreams!
Thank you,

Hi Tuck! Thank you for the e-mail, and yes, I use the meditation recording every day. I love it! It helps me keep my thoughts focused and to channel my energy towards who I really am and want in my life. I LOVE IT!

And today I am a miracle magnet! Today I am a money magnet! Today I am the BEST girlfriend ever, today I am successful and loved, today I am blessed and highly favored, today I am desperately wanted and longed for, today I am preferred and chosen, today I am attracting the very BEST. I am believing GOD. Today I am wiser and today I am LOVE.

Today….I’m a single mom trying to steal time to learn, grow and find myself, stay true to myself and lose myself all at the same time.  Mommy guilt is trying to creep in but I know that my son will be better for it in the long run as well. It’s all good and I know that I’m on a growth path.

The shortest distance between two people is a smile.  ~Author Unknown

My good friend and “SmileCoach” Frank Mallinder recently researched SMILING, and came across a “Smile Test” that I found informative and most of all, FUN!!

I scored a 14 and I’m still SMILING.

See how many facts you know about smiling. Take the “Smile Test”.

Be sure to let Frank and I know how you score. I’m off to smile again……..
