Beginning a New Day
I’ve been waking lately with this quote in my head. I was compelled to look it up as I had forgotten the ending. I am reminded how truly powerful it is and wanted to share…..
Today is the beginning of a new day.
God has given me this day to use as I will.
I can waste it … or use it for good.
But what I do today is important because
I am exchanging a day of my life for it.
When tomorrow comes,
This day will be gone forever.
Leaving in its place
Something that I have traded for it.
I want it to be gain and not loss,
Good and not evil,
Success and not failure,
In order that I shall not regret
The price that I have paid for it.

I was talking with someone the other day and she said she didn’t have something to look forward to each day. I thought that the saddest statement I’ve heard in forever. This quote reminds us of the true “cost” of a day spent coasting, drifting, going through the motions and just making do. There are so many reasons a person can lose sight of the fact that life itself is something to look forward to, but in the end, those ‘reasons’ are simply chosen responses. We have the power to change the quality of life simply by consciously choosing how we respond.
