The Biological Contract

'Your deepest fears of the future and your regrets about the past can all be reduced, at some level, to the fear generated by your biological contract.' ~ Spotted Eagle
I imagine by now it is obvious I love me some mentoring from the illustrious tribe of Spotted Eagle, Grandfather White Elk and White Buffalo. I gleaned from them back in the day, powerful personal growth information, tools and exercises to overcome living a life of effort and struggle, to live a life of joy, creativity and ease; as well as how to create life, love and work that resonate with my heart and soul.
Each of these illustrious Native American Indians contributed to my learning about Overcoming Fear to live an Essence Filled Life. I learned how to create from my Personal Magic, a Purposeful and Vision-Filled Life. I learned about Soulmate Relationships. And I also learned the 7 Laws for Creating Joyful Money and Prosperity. These exercises and practices changed and transformed my life forever. Spotted Eagle encouraged me to take in, practice and then share his work. I have and continue to be inspired to do exactly that.
This specific post and wisdom from Spotted Eagle focuses on something called The Biological Contract, better known to some as the ‘Ego’ and/or ‘Not Self’. The Biological Contract has us believe that there are not enough resources to go around, and only through domination and (perceived) control of these resources can we be safe and secure. As a result, we as humans obsess and are driven to feel safe and protected, loved and supported by our ‘tribe’ to have access to these resources. We do this through:
1.) Obligation (Love) – I must be loved by the tribe so they will share with me and take care of me.
2.) Domination (Power) – I must dominate and control the resources, so I don’t have to depend on others sharing with me.
3.) Subservience (Safety) – I must be subservient to a master who will protect me and share with me if I do what he/she wants.
How this Biological Contract gets enforced is through:
a.) Shame
b.) Blame
c.) Guilt
d.) Moral Outrage
e.) Pity/Sympathy
This Biological Contract represents our deepest most basic fear: The fear of survival. I ‘think’ most of us realize and are frequently present to the magnitude of these fears. The most curious thing about these fears, is the way we have learned to emotionalize them as if they are matters of life and death.
In fact, in response to these fears, we have created systems. We ‘make up’ these systems will bring certainty and security; we believe they will make us Powerful, keep us Safe and Loved. These 3 Systems and their rules for control are:
Family, Societal, Religious Systems - bring rules for controlling rejection.
Predictive Systems - bring rules for controlling events in your life.
Domination & Wealth Building Systems – bring rules for controlling the resources.
When these systems structure our reality, they form a straitjacket around possibilities. Our task is to become aware of when we are triggered by one of these existential fears; or when we are driven by the rules of these systems. We can then move to heal our mind and bodies, resolve our fears and transcend this Biological Contract forever. The first step: Awareness and Identification of the fears of our Biological Contract!
Exercise for Contemplation:
(1) This week observe the way the Biological Contract and the 5 enforcement methods affect your choices and behavior in ways that interfere with your authentic feelings and desires.
(2) Which of the Biological Provisions is most prominent for you?
(3) Which of the 5 Enforcement method is most familiar?
(4) Identify your most strongly held beliefs in each of the three Systems and observe them in your life.
I’d love to hear your responses to these inquiries, as well as any questions and/or comments.
